The latest record by The Black Keys, Brothers, just released yesterday and it is  f a n t a s t i c. This music video is for the first single off the record, and is titled “Tighten Up.” How funny is the commentary at the bottom?

Simple, upbeat video for a not-so-upbeat day. What’s with all the rain Chicago? My puppy and I are getting cabin fever. The video gets very hypnotizing after the first minute or so.

How incredible are these portraits? I found them while doing a web search for “vinyl artwork” (I’m searching for a material to up-cycle for artwork.) Daniel Edlen uses white acrylic paint and negative space from the vinyl to create these portraits. They are fairly affordable, and as you can see he covers a wide range of musicians. Check out more art below and on his site.

Even wondered what something more than 2000 yrs old looks like through a photographer’s eyes? Thanks to Rachel Sussman- the woman behind this project – we can, and the photos are breath-taking. Rachel is “researching, working with biologists, and traveling all over the world to find and photograph continuously living organisms that are 2,000 years old and older.”

She’s been working on the project for 5 years and still has a few more places to hit. Rachel has funded the project by herself and with the help of friends and family until now- she needs some extra help. There is a Kickstarter campaign site where you can donate to keep the project going. You can even donate as little as $1….

Solar Beat by White Vinyl Design is an interactive infographic that educates the viewer about orbit ratios in our solar system. Along with the mod design, the viewer can control the “tempo” of the orbits. There is even a clicker at the bottom to compare the planets. See it here.

While on my trip to the Bay I no doubt visited my old favorite shops like Nathan & Co., and Urban Indigo, but I found a new favorite too! I stumbled on The Curiosity Shoppe while strolling around San Francisco one beautiful afternoon. I’m not your average American consumer, but when I walked in there I had a very intense urge to support this local business with my dollar.

A favorite past time of mine is searching for new bands. And music festival line-ups are no doubt the prime scene for sampling. I found these guys Rogue Wave on the Lollapalooza line-up. At first I thought they were from the midwest with songs like “Lake Michigan” and “Chicago x 12″ but it turns out they are from Oakland, CA – nice. They’ve been around since 2004, and just released their latest album, Permalight, this past March.
